Morcom's Season Best Result Consolidates Second Place in Australian Production Car Championship                                                                                                   6-11-2007

Morcom's Season Best Result Consolidates Second Place in Australian Production Car Championship.

A second place finish overall during the penultimate round of the Australian Production Car Championship over the weekend at Oran Park Raceway has strengthened Barry Morcom's second place in the championship point standings.

In what was his third podium finish of the year, Morcom was pleased, but at the same time disappointed with how the weekend panned out driving his Rondo Building Services / Charsam Corporate Identity supported BMW 335i Turbo.

"I think we had more expectations of our car heading into the weekend, as it didn't seem to perform as strongly as we were hoping for, but with that said, to still manage to come away with a second place finish is a fantastic result," revealed Morcom.

"Oran Park wasn't really ideal suited for to my car, as the gearing at crucial parts of the track did affected the performance of not suit our cars and our straight line speed was affected because we were unable to get onto the main straight quicker.”

After qualifying second, Morcom went on to finish in that position in the opening race, and recorded a third and fourth place in race two and three, under the handicapped format, which gave him second for the round overall behind Steve Briffa.

Despite finishing ahead of main rival, Garry Holt, for the round, Morcom was unable to deny him the Australian Production Car Championship win, with a single round still to be run, but he has all but secured a second place finish.

Heading into the final round of the Australian Production Car Championship, in early December at Sandown International Raceway in Victoria, Morcom confidently believes that the circuit will suit his car.

"I feel confident going can take a lot of confidence into the final round, as I feel that Sandown will suit our cars, and we hope to finish the year on a winning note," added Morcom.

"My car without a doubt loves the fast flowing circuits, and with Sandown also having two long straight sections, I'm very much looking forward to the final round."

Special thanks and congratulations must go to Garry Holt and his Eastern Creek Kart Raceway team for the preparation of his BMW’s 335i Turbo this year and also winning the 2007 Australian Production Car Championship.

Morcom in 2007 is proudly sponsored by the following companies: Rondo Building Services, Charsam Corporate Identity, P & I Smash Repairs, Haltech Engine Management Systems, Yokohama, Hydrolyte, Premier One, NSW Stretch Ceilings, Hi-Tech Computers and P & I Smash Repairs, and a special thanks goes out to all of them for their ongoing commitment and support.
